LANL Master Specifications, STD-342-200

LANL Master Specifications (LMS) are template documents available in SpecLink Cloud and Microsoft Word format.

Use of SpecLink Cloud is highly recommended, as it simplifies editing and helps reduce errors when creating project specification packages.

As a reminder, users are required to review and edit specification templates—whether in SpecLink Cloud or Word—to address project-specific requirements and ensure accuracy, in accordance with LANL ESM Chapter 1, Section Z10, Attachment F.

LMS content and the user-experience in SpecLink Cloud will continue to be improved over time based on user feedback.

NOTES:

  • External Design Agencies: To get access to the Current Office Master, please email engstandards@lanl.gov (goes to CoE Team).
  • All Users: Always check Variances against LMS for affected Specification Sections.

What's new in the Current Office Master?

  • New Section 00 0110 - Table of Contents.
  • Major Updates Across Sections, including:
    * Streamlined and updated content enhanced with SpecLink automation to simplify editing and reduce errors.
    * Consistent formatting and standardized headings across most sections.
    * Update or replacement of outdated reference standards wherever possible.
    * Reorganization of several Architectural and Structural Sections to align with construction sequencing.
    * Structural Sections now comply with IBC 2021 and commercial practices. Specification language has been revised to improve clarity, accuracy and completeness.
    * Addition of explanatory author notes to support editing in both SpecLink and Word formats. Author notes in Structural Sections now include instructional videos, design sketches and guidance aids to assist Subcontractors with implementation.
  • Sections 01 8712 Seismic Qualification of Equipment - Nuclear-Safety Related, 03 3021 Reinforced Concrete - High Confidence, 03 6021 Grouting - High Confidence and 05 0521 Post-Installed Concrete Anchors - Nuclear Safety will be available at a later date.

Guide and Training:

  • SpecLink Cloud Getting Started Guide for LANL Users - Highly recommended to get started in SpecLink Cloud! Includes training, tips and guidance specific to LANL Office Master in SpecLink.
  • UTrain:
Note: The four course offerings must be attended in sequence.
    * UTrain Course #62386, Introduction to SpecLink Cloud, Part 1: Covers specification format, SpecLink Cloud basics, and setup of the LANL Office Master.
    * UTrain Course #62389, Introduction to SpecLink Cloud, Part 2: Covers the basics of developing project specification packages using SpecLink Cloud.
    * UTrain Course #62391, Introduction to SpecLink Cloud, Part 3: Covers additional topics for developing project specification packages using SpecLink Cloud.
    * UTrain Course #62392, Introduction to SpecLink Cloud, Part 4: Covers example Sections from the LANL Office Master in SpecLink Cloud.

SpecLink Cloud Licenses:

Due to a limited number of available licenses, SpecLink Cloud access will be granted to LANL ad-hoc users on an as-needed basis.

  • For SpecLink Cloud access requests (new and existing deactivated LANL users), please email speclinkaccess@lanl.gov (goes to ES-OPS Team).
NOTE: New users must complete the four-part UTrain training series (see Guide and Training above) prior to requesting access.
